Dear P.E. Colleagues,
Happy New Year!
We are delighted to confirm that the Primary International Schools Cross Country Competition is set for Friday 6th February 2026 at Sotogrande International School.
The route we are creating is part school track and part campo. We are in the process of having some maintenance work completed to the exterior course to maintain the integrity of the track with rain. Unfortunately, the inconsistent weather has proved problematic, so apologies for the slight delay in sending this information.
We are excited to announce that we will be using DORSAL CHIP to coordinate the event. This means each runner will receive their own personalised time chip score with increased precision. This should also make totalling up the results much smoother.
Please note entries are limited to a total of 10 Schools. This will be allocated on a first come first served basis with additional priority given to schools with the fullest squads.
NO PARENTS ARE PERMITTED to attend or spectate! This course is completely within the confines of SIS or adjacent private land.
We will have an ambulance on site throughout the event.
For those who attended the Cross Country Championships before, we have tried to keep the distances very similar. The routes are a mixture of track, paved inclines inside school and uneven campo, trainers only please, no spikes or studs.
Each school may enter a team of 5 boys and 5 girls per age category. So for example for the Year 1 and 2 category you can have your top 5 girls selected from both Year 1 and 2 (5 girls in total) and your top 5 boys from Year 1 and 2 (5 boys in total), so a total of 10 children from Year 1 and 2. This will be repeated for all 3 age categories.
If you are bringing a full complement of runners to the competition you should have 30 children with you. We would kindly ask that everyone respects the age categories as outlined at the AGM. While you can prepare a sub runner, only a maximum of 5 runners (per category) can score in each race. 1 sub can run with a coloured bib per school, per race.
Please notify the desk once you arrive if there have had to be last minute changes. Only named runners are insured to run on the course.
The course is very safe and will start inside school to 'thin the field' before runners depart into the 'campo.' It will be marshalled all the way round by staff and PTA from SIS. In terms of staffing, schools are advised to only bring sufficient staffing to support the waiting teams as track supervision is covered.
Please find a short video of the proposed course, this will give you an idea of the varying terrains. Please note the distances vary per age group & individualised maps per category below.
Please can you let me know if you are interested in attending the event by completing the link below. If less than 10 schools sign up then we can maybe look to increase the number of runners each school can bring to make the event more inclusive.
Can you let us know by Monday 26th January 2026 if your school would like to attend, we will then send out the information pack, route maps and your team sheet to fill in.
If you will attend please, in the first instance, add your name, contact email and size of squad to this entrance form.
